Reduce Stress Through Laughter

Laughter truly is the best medicine. A healthy daily dose of laughter can cut through the deepest feelings of stress and anxiety. Laughter can replace those feelings with a sense of joy that strengthens you to overcome any obstacle you face. Laughter also enhances your relationships by bringing you and the ones you love closer together.

Laughter can have positive effects on your physical health, too. Enjoying funny jokes or silly moments can help you feel more relaxed and less tense. This puts less pressure on your body’s systems and may even promote a healing response within your body.

When you’re feeling intense emotions, laughter can be a powerful tool to work through them. A healthy sense of humor acts as an emotional distraction and creates a fresh perspective on your circumstance. Laughter is often the quickest and most effective way to combat strong feelings of anger and frustration.

Keeping A Clear Mind in Chaos

Ever feel that 24 hours is not enough for the day ? Feel that there is so much to do that you do not have enough time to complete everything ? It is quite common nowadays expectations of us is high, be it at work or at home.

When your life gets crazy, you need to put yourself first to maintain your mental health.

Maybe these six tips can help keep yourself organized and a clear mind :

1.   Make sure you save some time for yourself

Note that no matter how busy you are, you must carve out some time for yourself every day.

Everyone has their own activities that help them relax. Find something that you find relaxing. Do you feel pampered with a long, warm bubble bath? Listening to a piece of your favorite music? Whatever it is, find something that you enjoy, take deep breaths and relax.

Give yourself this time to relax and enjoy these moments to allow your body, mind and soul to recharge itself so that you are productive when you return to complete the rest of the tasks.

2.   Stay organized

Your life can be much easier if you maintain good organization. You will save time and gain a feeling of control over your circumstances. This time allows you the opportunity to spend moments for yourself to rejuvenate your energy and thoughts.

Before you start your day, create a to-do list for the day. Rank the items from the most important to the least important, most urgent to the least urgent. Start with the most urgent and important one first. At the end of the day, you walk away with the peace of mind that comes with knowing that you used your time in the most effective way possible.

3.    Take a deep breath

If you find that stress is catching on you, stay cool and calm, take a step back, take a deep breath and count to ten slowly. This will allow you time to clear your mind and decide on the most effective and appropriate response.

When you learn to focus on your breath, you’ll likely discover that your breathing is shallow during stressful situations. Learn to breathe deeply from your belly to feel a greater sense of peace in the midst of the storms of your life.

4.   Meditate

Mediation is a great way to calm your mind and regain focus when things seem to go out of control. Purge all thoughts from your mind and reorganize your thoughts.

5.   Regular exercise

A moderate amount of exercise each day is all you need to improve your fitness. Getting through our busy days not only requires a strong mental health, it requires physical stamina as well. Find a exercise that you enjoy; be it a stroll in the park, slow jog, yoga, or a game of football with your children.

A walk or jog in the park, for example can get your mind off the many tasks you have on hand. Pay attention to the sights and sounds of your natural surroundings and the peace of the environment.

6.   Take one step at a time

Life often requires you to juggle many different situations at once. It’s overwhelming if you try to think of each one of those things at the same time.

Focus on one task at a time and work at the task until it’s complete. Then move on to the next task. If you keep putting one foot in front of the other, everything on your to-do list will eventually get accomplished.

Remember that you’re not alone. If you need to talk to someone else about your busy life, reach out to positive people in your life who truly care about you. Sometimes, just talking may help you to clear your mind of everything.

Enjoy the peace you deserve today !

Simple Strategies to Overcome Challenges

Who doesn’t face challenges in life ? Challenges are a normal part of life. Many people look at challenges and loathe them, but challenges help move us forward.  We would stand still without challenges, would never improve ourselves, and would always be the same people we are right now.  It all depends on how we view challenges.  Take it positively and we win.

This knowledge may make challenges somewhat easier to deal with and may even enable you to defeat challenges or obstacles that are standing in your way. So ask yourself: Am I where I want to be in life? If you’re not happy, then it’s time to take charge.

Overcoming Challenges

Overcoming some challenges can be as simple as remembering that nothing lasts forever.  Even though this may sound rather simple, it is true. When you are in the midst of a tough situation, you should pause for a moment and remember that this too shall pass.  We often get caught up in the drama and the stress of a challenge or obstacle. This blinds us to the reality that this moment is simply a stepping stone to where we are going.

Another way to overcome challenges is to seek help. We often become islands unto ourselves when we needn’t be. Ask friends and family for help, or get professional help if the challenge necessitates it. Teaming up with those who are in our lives often makes a challenge seem smaller and less threatening.

Breaking challenges down into more manageable pieces also may make them easier to overcome. Many of us look only at the big picture, which often can be overwhelming.  Look at the challenges you are facing and see if you can’t break up the issues into smaller pieces to make the process less intimidating.

Positive thought is a great way to overcome challenges. Many people keep a list of affirmations with them – either physically or in their minds – to help them overcome difficulties as challenges arise. Affirmations are simple statements to help you quiet negative thoughts that are in your mind.  Many people find that positive thoughts are the key to overcoming both big and small challenges.

You can take positive thoughts one step further and incorporate affirmations into your everyday life. These affirmations may include, “If I can say it, I can do it, and I can be it.”  Getting up each day and saying these thoughts out loud reaffirms the positive thought and allows you to live it.  Many people repeat the thought each day at the same time, while others use them only in those moments when challenges present themselves and become overwhelming.

Overcoming challenges is difficult, but this is a vital part of learning more about yourself, who you are striving to be, and what your place is in this world.  In many situations, you can employ just one of these methods to overcome the challenges in your life, and in other situations you may need to use a combination. Each person finds different methods of dealing with challenges to work for them, but the power of positive thought cannot be overlooked. This power will enable you to see the good in each challenge or obstacle that you encounter throughout your life.

7 Tips to Manage Stress

Everyone has some form or level of stress. I have stress too. Some stress I feel good about and some I do not like it a bit. It can be painful. I know how it feels! Do not lose hope. Believe me, there are many ways to deal with stress.

Having a negative perspective in life and carrying the burden of problems that do not directly concern you can scratch away the little joy and happiness that you have. You cannot blame other people for allowing stress to affect them; they have their own reasons. You, too, have your own reason for allowing stress to weigh you down.

There are several ways to manage stress. Through constant practice, you can eventually remove stress out of your life. This article is about a seven-day course on how to manage stress effortlessly.

1) Recognize that stress has a good side

The human body has a natural “fight or flight” response that may lead to stress. In this case, stress can provide a burst of energy that will enhance your performance at the right moment. I have yet to see a top sportsman totally relaxed before a big competition. Use stress wisely. Use it to push yourself a bit harder when it counts most.

2) Discover your trigger buttons and learn to address them
Think of these words: presentations, interviews, meeting, giving difficult feedback, and tight deadlines. What do you feel? In my case, my heart rate is cranking up as I am writing these words down!

Go ahead. Make your own list of stress trigger points or hot spots. Be specific. Do presentations to a specific audience make you tense? Does one particular project cause more stress? Does drinking too much coffee affect your mood?

Knowing your stress triggers is just the first step. With this information, you will be armed with the necessary skills to overcome tense feelings. Do you need to learn some new skills? Do you need extra resources? Do you need to switch to decaf?

3) Learn from the best

Be observant. When people are losing their heads, who remains calm? Observe the calm person. Is he doing something different? What is his attitude? What language does he use? Is he trained and experienced?

Figure it out from afar or chat with him. Learn from the best stress manager and copy what he does.

4) Practice the 7-11 breathing technique

I learned this technique from my gym instructor. You can achieve total relaxation by using heavy breathing. Breathe in slowly as you count up to 7, then exhale slowly in your mouth as you count up to 11. Repeat the 7-11 breathing until your heart rate slows. Your sweaty palms will dry off and things will start to feel more normal.

5) Avoid stress sneezers

Highly stressed people sneeze stress germs indiscriminately and before you know it, you are infected too!

Protect yourself by limiting your contact with them. If you have the inclination, play the role of a stress doctor and teach others how to manage stress.

6) Give stressful thoughts the red light
Stress is often caused by excessive worries about the future. Most of these things never happen, so why waste all that energy worrying needlessly? Give stressful thoughts the red light! Stop immediately!

7) Get complete rest and sleep

Lack of sleep, poor diet, and no exercise wreak havoc on your body and mind. All these lead to stress. Take a breather.

Stress can be a total drag, but it should not hinder you from finding the inner peace of mind that you wanted for a long time.   Remember there is stress, it is a matter of how we manage it.  Let us decide how stress will impact us and not allow stress to impact us in a way we do not want.

Cheers to better life !
