Strategies for Living a Conscious Life

Would you like to get more out of your life? It’s never too late to make a new choice or reverse your life’s course. One way to live a more enriched life is to be conscious of what you’re doing at every moment. This way, you stay connected with your behavior and feelings.

For example, you’ve decided to stop eating potato chips and chocolate. You make a pledge to yourself to watch what you eat. But two hours later, you suddenly realize you’re sitting in front of the television, bag of potato chips in hand.

Now imagine the same scenario, yet this time you behave differently. You spend some time thinking about how to ensure you avoid potato chips and chocolate. You decide to take your junk food over to a friend’s house and leave it there. At dinner, you smile to yourself as you prepare to eat a salad and baked chicken because you plan to thoughtfully focus on eating healthy.

Be A More Assertive Person

Many people confuse assertiveness with aggression. Assertiveness can be achieved without being aggressive.  There isn’t anything wrong or aggressive about open and honest communication when done appropriately. You’re merely clarifying your needs to another person.

Assertiveness is being able to express your feelings while still respecting the feelings of others.

Having Fun is My Daily Routine

Fun is important to my health. I have a demanding career and family responsibilities and balancing these two extremely important parts of my life is difficult at times. However, I understand that making time for fun is essential to living a happy, fulfilling life. For this reason, I make it a point to inject a dose of fun into my everyday life.

Each morning, I wake up a few minutes earlier than usual in order to indulge in my favorite activities. Sometimes I go walking with my partner or head to the local coffee shop with my best friends. Other times, I simply craft at my kitchen table or watch my favorite television shows that I record just for this purpose.

Build Wealth Through Positive Thinking

To achieve any kind of great success, you must first believe that you’re capable of achieving that success. Great sports stars can suddenly begin having lousy performances if they suddenly feel they can’t perform well or live up to their coach’s high expectations. Writers and musicians suddenly have their wellsprings of inspiration dry up if they no longer “feel it” or if they suddenly lose confidence in their creative abilities.

The same is true in our own lives. You don’t have to be famous for your boss to have high expectations of you at work. Our families also have certain expectations and if you cave under the pressure, your performance might suffer and your negative thoughts will infiltrate other areas of your life.

Why is Self-Respect Important ?

Why is self-respect so important?  Interesting question, isn’t it ?  Not many people even think about this question.

When you have self-respect, you actually fully love yourself. You love yourself for who you are on the inside and not just because of what you do, what you look like, or what you’re capable of. When you have self-respect, you take pride in who you are and you know that you’re valuable.

On the flipside, without self-respect, it’s difficult to have honesty, confidence, and integrity. Instead, a person without self-respect may feel the emotions of anger, guilt, blame, shame, or regret, and they sport secretive behavior because deep down they feel unworthy. Beyond that, if you can’t respect yourself, how can you respect others and how can others respect you?

I Keep A Positive View of Myself

“I keep a positive view of myself.”

When I think about the person whom I have become, I am filled with joy. I am proud of who I am. I live by my values and I try to make a difference in the lives of others.

Instead of being my own worst critic, I choose to be my greatest cheerleader. I encourage myself with positive thoughts because it is the best thing I can do for my self-image.

When a negative thought tries to creep into my mind, I promptly reject it without giving it time to develop. I protect my self-confidence because the way I see myself affects the way I carry myself and the way others see me as well.
